Google has released a new version of their popular Chrome browser. The new release, version 53, includes fixes for several critical security flaws.
We recommend updating Google Chrome as soon as possible.
To do so:
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the 3 vertically-aligned dots under the X in the upper right hand corner.
- Click on Help, About Google Chrome.
- The browser should automatically start checking for updates. You will need to provide an administrative password for the check to complete.
(If it checks without asking for a password that means the account you are using is at least a local administrator. If this is the account you regularly use to browse the Internet, we recommend that you create a separate user account for Admin functions and then change this account to a Standard User account. The reason being, if you encounter malware when browsing as an Administrator the malware will have Administrative rights and will install with ease. When using the computer as a Standard User, the malware will need you to provide the Admin username and password if it wants to make any significant changes.) - When you have finished the update you should have at least Version 53.0.2785.89 m
